The driver claimed that the two college-going students on a bike lost balance because of the pothole and fell in front of his bus, following which they were run over and died on the spot, according to police.

“Amar Singh, the driver of a Rajasthan Roadway’s bus, approached a court recently alleging criminal negligence on the part of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation officials, including its Sanganer zone commissioner,” a police officer told IANS.

In his complaint, the driver said he was driving the bus from Pratapgarh town to Jaipur Dec 4.

The two college students were Revat Singh and Vinod Kumar. After the accident, the local residents pelted stones at the bus and blocked a road. The police booked Singh for rash and negligent driving.

“Singh alleged that if there was no pothole on the road, the accident would never have happened,” said the police officer.

He added that on Singh’s complaint, the court directed the police to lodge a first information report (FIR) against the zone commissioner and other senior JMC officers.
