Mumbai: Abdul Wahab Umar and Qamar Alam Shaikh, students of Swami Paramanand Engineering College, Mohali (Punjab) and Nasim Khan of Samastipur arrested by the Anti Terrorist Squad, Maharashtra got bail here on Wednesday.
Advocate Khalid Azmi, Jamiat Ulema, appearing on behalf of the accused told TwoCircles.net: “The court granted them bail on the personal bond of Rs.15000 each, because charges against them were bailable and they were sent to Judicial Custody on Monday.”
“ATS Maharashtra also did not object to the bail application,” he added.
Aftab, brother of Abdul Wahab, who is running a workshop here felt relaxed and said, “Finally we are out of this mental turmoil and are busy in arranging bail for the accused.”
He thanked Gulzar Azmi, Secretary, Legal Cell of Jamiat Ulema Hind, Arshad Madni group for providing lawyers panel.
Mehmood Hakimi of Anjuman Bashindgaane Bihar, Mumbai who led the delegation to meet ATS chief of Maharashtra is happy with the decision. He said, “We are grateful to Mr. Rakesh Maria who fulfilled his promise.” He was certain that Rakesh Maria is an honest officer and he will never do injustice with anyone.
Hakimi also appreciated the timely intervention of Arif Nasim Khan, Minister of Minority Affairs, Maharashtra in the matter.
Abdul Wahab Umar (22) and Qamar Alam Sheikh are the students of mechanical engineering at Swami Paramanand Engineering College, Mohali. They were picked by Maharashtra ATS sleuths on 1st January, 2011 and Vasil Khan was picked up from Samastipur, Bihar.
Meanwhile, after the investigation with these three accused ATS also questioned 10 youths from Badlupura, densely populated Muslim locality of South Mumbai. They were detained for acquiring illegal SIM card.
ATS sources told, “They were detained for questioning and released later in the day.”
Mohammed Rafi and Mohammed Wasi who run a small bag manufacturing unit and eight of their employees were detained for questioning.
Since 22nd Nov. 2011, Delhi and Mumbai ATS have picked about a dozen youths from Bihar in different terror cases.
Six of them picked by Delhi ATS have been put behind bars in Jama Masjid attack case.
