Baghdad: At least seven people were killed and 35 injured in two car bomb blasts in the Iraqi capital Tuesday, an interior ministry source said.
The first blast occurred when a booby-trapped car went off at al-Mudhafar Square in Baghdad’s Sadr city, where many construction labourers had gathered for the day’s work, Xinhua reported the source as saying.
The second blast took place when another explosives-laden car was detonated in al-Dakhil area, a Shiite bastion, of the city, the source said.
The toll could rise as the victims were being rushed to nearby hospitals and medical centres in ambulances and private cars, the source added.
