Al-Ameen Mission celebrates its Silver Jubilee

Kolkata: Al-Ameen Mission, the pioneer educational institution in West Bengal, celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 28-29th January 2012 at its main campus in Khalatpur of Howrah district. Al-Ameen Mission was established in 1987. In 25 years, the mission helped hundreds of poor talented Muslim students to get higher education.

The main function started on 28th January and closing ceremony was held on 29th January. On the first day main guest was State Minister of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Mr Firhad Hakim. Addressing the function, Mr Hakim said, “Education word is the main topic in Holy Quran, so every Muslim should get education. Al-Ameen Mission has been teaching Modern Education in Islamic environment.

Vice Chancellor of Aliah University Dr Syed Shamsul Alam said, cultural and educational heritage of the Muslim community has been remarkable throughout the world. First university was established in Cairo. It was Jamia Al Azhar. So, we have to try to give our best performance. Quoting from Quran, he said every Muslim should read Quran and analyse the inner meaning, then Muslim could achieve the goal in the society.

Dr. Shamsul Alam, who was faculty of ITI and now is VC of Aliah University, advised Al-Ameen students to strive for ITI besides the Joint Entrance Examination of Medical & Engineering. Dr Shamsul Alam handed over to Minister Firhad Hakim an emblem on behalf of Al-Ameen Mission.

Secretary of Al-Ameen Mission Sk Nurul Islam said, Al Ameen Mission started their run on 1st January of 1987. Now lots of Muslim organizations are establishing this kind of institution in West Bengal. But Al-Ameen’s performance is still remarkable. First Muslim toppers in Madhyamik (Secondary) came from this institution. More than 500 students got the chance to study in Medical and engineering. He also said, most of them came from poor Muslim family. He proudly said, every year students of Al-Ameen Mission rank within 100 both in Medical and engineering tests.

He announced that, Al-Ameen Mission will open an institution on their Rajarhat-Newtown campus as `Centre of Excellence for Higher Studies and Research’, where coaching will be given for Medical, Engg, IIT, IIM and many post graduate courses. He also appreciated State Minister Mr Firhad Hakim for considering their money to be given to the State Government in installments. It is fact that the land of Al-Ameen Mission at Rajarhat Campus was allocated by previous Left Front Govt in nearly Rs 3 cr.
Libya-based businessman Er. Akbar Hossain, Chairman of State Madarsa Service Commission Professor Abdur Rauf, State Bar Council Secretary Ansar Ali Mondal, Prof Habibur Rahman of Islamic University at Kustia, Bangladesh were also present at the ceremony and delivered their speech.

On the occasion, Grandson of Freedom Fighter and leader of post Independent India Chittaranjan Das, Pilot Krishnendu Das donated Rs 5 Lac for poor students of Al-Ameen Mission on that day in memory of his uncle Ex Chief Minister of West Bengal Sidhartha Shankar Ray.

The closing function on 29th January 2012 was presided over by District Magistrate of Howrah Sanghamitra Ghosh and Chairman of State Minority Commission Mr Entaj Ali. They met students and inspired them to give best performance in education.

On the function, students of Al-Ameen Mission who achieved high ranks in the final Examination of Higher Secondary, Medical & Engg Entrance Exam were felicitated.

More than three thousand students and guardians took part in this ceremony.
