Call for help to Myanmar refugees in Delhi during Ramazan

New Delhi: Hundreds of Myanmar Muslims are living in pathetic condition here in the national capital for past few months. A team of civil activists who visited them two days back at Kanchan Kunj near Sarita Vihar said they are at the brink of starvation. The team has made a help call for the refugees during Ramazan.

There are almost 250 people living in Kanchan Kunj area. They have only rice in the name of food, said Faisal Khan of Khudai Khidmatgar. “We are appealing to provide pulses, oil, spices etc for them. In the holy month of Ramazan please also provide milk, dates other basic need things for them at School of Information and Management Technology (SIMT) near Khalilullah Masjid, Batla House,” said Khan.


Ghulam Jeelani, Diretor, SIMT who was also part of the team said the Burmese Muslim refugees need urgent help in the shape of food items. He said people should come out to help them during Ramazan. He further urged that people should hold iftar parties at camp of the refugees or they can give us materials and we will do it. Jilani said the refugees also need medical help as there is threat of outbreak of diseases.


Faizan Ahmed, member of the team who also visited the refugee camp and earlier UN office in Delhi said: We urged the UN officials to help Burmese Muslims who are being massacred in Myanmar. Those living in Delhi also need urgent help.
