Ahmedabad: At a jam packed press conference leader of the opposition in Gujarat Shaktisinh Gohil alleged that the Gujarat Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dilip Sanghani indulged into a clear cut ‘Contempt of Court’. He demanded the BJP Chief Minister Narendra Modi to sack the Law Minister and apologise before the public of Gujarat.
In a CD released by the Gujarat Congress, Sanghani can be heard criticising the courts for “interfering in transfers of officials and violating Constitution.”
Gohil said “it is the handiwork of Modi himself to terrorise the State judiciary and scare them away in pronouncing judgments in a free and open manner. He reiterated that Modi had created such an atmosphere and ambience in the State that the medium and small businessmen, Dalits and Adiwasis had only a ray of hope from the judiciary.
Under the constitutional rights and framework the Indian judiciary system is totally independent of any government or a bureaucracy. But, providing an evidence in the form of a cd (which was shown to the media persons) Gohil alleged that the Law Minister of Gujarat had himself committed a “Contempt of Court” on June 2nd in Junagarh while addressing a public function.
Gohil also added that the tone and tenor of the minister was autocratic and threatening as if to warn the judiciary. Gohil earlier alleged that the Modi government was working for only few handful of big industrialists and was not at all bothered to look into the empathy of others.
The Leader of Opposition who has a Law background himself said that it was his belief that the Law Minister (who is also an advocate) was used by the CM Modi to convey this warning to the judiciary or else, Gohil said the CM should sack the minister for the contempt of court and apologise himself before the people of Gujarat for this serious offence.
Gohil also made a point on Modi that “he has ample time and public money to use on his publicity and spend it in the name of “Vibrant Gujarat programme” whereby large amount of public money was being used by the government machinery and the CM himself in international tours and other things (our RTI in this regard still pending in the government).” “But, added Gohil Modi has no time to meet the parents of 16,000 missing children.”
To a question as to why Gohil took so long to raise this issue, he replied that he believes in providing full and complete evidence to be furnished to the press so once he obtained a clear video of the speech of Law minster he decided to hold the press conference.
Another question asking his comments about one day Assembly in place of regular Monsoon session, Gohil said “Modi had murdered democracy in Gujarat; he is doing this act of one day session to comply to the provision but as per the Assembly rules after every six months a complete session should have been conducted where Question Hour was a regular phenomena, but, under ‘Modi raaj’ even this concept was shelved in the cold storage.
