Islamabad : Rehman Malik, former Pakistani interior minister and currently adviser to the prime minister, Friday submitted nomination papers for re-election to the Senate, Geo News reported.
Malik had resigned as a senator July 10 after a case was filed in the Supreme Court about his dual Pakistani and British nationality.
After Malik renounced his British citizenship, the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) decided to nominate him for the Senate again.
Malik said he had resigned due to accusations levelled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif against him, and also because it was said that a proposed amendment in the constitution in the dual nationality law was approved to benefit him.
He also submitted an affidavit regarding the surrender of his British citizenship to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
