Rooyat e Hilaal committee of Andhra Pradesh consisting of Muslim sects at initial stage after prayer of Maghrib on Friday declared that moon was not sighted anywhere in the country, so Ramazan will begin from Sunday. But at 9:30 in the night a meeting was again called at the committee office in Mozamjahi market after the reports of moon sighting started coming from Karnataka and northern Tamilnadu. After getting confirmations from Mysore, Sunni Ulema accepted the sighting as permitted in Sharia but Shia Ulema refused to accept the testimony of moon sighting from Mysore and declared that for Shias, Ramazan will begin from Sunday.

At 10:15 in the night, to clear the confusion sirens went bursting from the mosques in the streets of Hyderabad announcing the arrival of the holy month. Tarravi prayers began in all the mosques in the city, even in historic Mecca Masjid.
