Inspector General B.N. Ramesh of the Central Reserve Police Force flagged off what was dubbed a “petrol free patrol” from Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to Nunwan in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam town.

The 90 CRPF personnel include a deputy inspector general and four battalion commandants.

“The intention is to promote peace while conserving petrol and diesel,” CRPF spokesman Sudhir Kumar told IANS here.
