Train Fire: Vice President, PM condole loss of lives

New Delhi: Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives of passengers in the fire incident on Tamil Nadu Express train that took place near Nellore Monday morning.

The VP has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He wished speedy recovery to the injured passengers.

The PM in his message expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in the train fire accident. He also has conveyed his condolences and sympathies to the kin of those who have died in the accident and the injured.

The PM has asked the Ministry of Railways to work with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to coordinate and speed up rescue and relief measures and to render all assistance to the kin of the victims.

About 35 people are officially reported to have been killed in the fire while unconfirmed media reports put the toll to 50.
