By TCN News,

Jaipur: Rajasthan Muslims are not happy with the reinstatement of suspended District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Gopalgarh district following an order of CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal) have blamed Congress government of the state for this. The officers were reinstated as there were no cases pending against them. They were suspended by the state government for their failure in checking the communal violence and police firing in the district in September last year.

Rajasthan Muslim Forum (RMF), the united forum of Rajasthan’s prominent Muslim organisations, has expressed surprise over their restoration. “It was shocking for us, as we were contented on the initial action of the government when they suspended the Collector and SP and handing over the case to the apex investigating agency of our country. We were hopeful that the CBI will help the victims to gain justice.” said Muhammad Salim Engineer, member RMF and central secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

Alleging that the CBI is working under pressure from the state government and trying to save the police and administrative officers as well as the Gurjars. Mr. Salim said that the family members of the victims had filed 14 FIRs against the SP, Collector and Police staff including 10 persons of the Gurjar community, but the CBI started investigating in only 5 other FIRs filed by the police and administration and sent 5 innocent Muslims to judicial custody.

The Police firing of 14th September 2011 had claimed several lives of local Muslims. The police not only opened fire on the Muslims praying in the mosque, in which 10 persons died and about 30 were injured gravely, they burnt some of the dead bodies and even those who were still breathing. The state government, taking action after the Muslim organisations rallied in thousands against the ruthless police firing on the Muslims who were peacefully praying in the mosque, had suspended the then SP and Collector and entrusted the case to the CBI.

Mr. Paker Farooq Advocate, membe of RMF and Rajasthan president of Association For Protection Of Civil Rights (APCR), said “It is very unfortunate that the government issued orders of suspension of the officers but did not order any probe against them. Due to this deliberate lacuna, they approached the CAT and because there was no inquiry pending against them, they got reinstated.”

He said that 14 FIRs were filed on behalf of the victims under sections 302, 307, 147, 148, 149, 436, 295, 427, 109, 353, 153 (A) and 120 (B) of the IPC, but the CBI perceptively delayed investigation in these cases by about four months. “This delay was to give clean-chit to the culprit officers”, added Mr. Farooq.
