Lucknow: A leading folk singer and a woman singer were shot dead at Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, police said Saturday.
Ramji Yadav and Suneeta Tyagi were going from Varanasi to Ghazipur, around 350 km from here, in a car when they were attacked near Saidpur on the highway after midnight Friday.
The assailants opened several rounds of fire, killing them on the spot, Superintendent of Police D.K. Chowdhary told IANS.
The killing came to light when passers-by saw the two bodies lying in a pool of blood inside the car.
Police sources said a love affair or old animosity may be behind the twin murders.
