Dr. Lalit Mohan Sharma, a private practitioner, has been asked to pay the compensation amount to the patient within a month.

BHRC Chairman Justice S.N. Jha said he had also directed the health department to probe Sharma’s credentials and look into the affairs of his private clinic-cum-hospital in Bihta, about 30 km from here. The report was sought within two months.

Jha said the commission had also directed the New Delhi-based Medical Council of India to inquire about the qualifications and professional activities of Sharma.

The patient, Sanjay Kumar Singh, filed a complaint with the commission that Sharma had removed his testicles under the garb of surgery for hydrocele when he went to him for treatment Dec 27 last year.
