IGNOU starts admissions for information security courses

New Delhi : The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the admission process for post-graduate diploma and certificate courses in information security, a statement said Monday.

Both courses are conducted by the university’s School of Vocational Education and Training (SOVET)

“These programmes aim to raise high professional ethics in the individuals and students towards providing information security and make one competent enough to acquire the necessary skills and techniques to ensure protection against any infiltration,” said programme coordinator Urshla Kant in the statement.

While the graduate students can go for the one year Post Graduate Diploma in Information Security (PGDIS) programme, the six month Advanced Certificate in Information Security (ACISE) will be available for matriculate students.

“The programme has been designed to prepare the youth to experiment and learn the skills and techniques needed for providing protection and security to the information available in the virtual environment and to make learners both responsible and smart net users. The eligibility to apply for this course is 10th pass or its equivalent,” Kant added.

The course fee for the one-year diploma is Rs.8,000 while that for the certificate course is Rs.4,000. The last date for application is July 30, 2012.
