Mumbai: United efforts should be made to bring more Muslim youths towards technical education and competitive examinations, said Aamir Edresy, National President of Association for Muslim Professionals (AMP) addressing the concluding session of AMP’s two-day national convention on 17th June.
Edresy appreciated the efforts of AMP members for Muslim welfare particularly educational awareness in the country. “If our small effort can play any role in community’s progress, then we should get united to do this,” he said. He emphasized on bringing more Muslims in technical education and competitive exams.
Eminent educationists and intellectuals addressed the convention.
Dr. MM Ansari, Ex IAS, appreciated the efforts of AMP on educational awareness among Muslims. He said the group should also focus on poverty and check if for poverty Muslim children are not going to school.
Educationist Dr. PA Inamdar said education is key to success for the Muslim community and only through education, can poverty and backwardness be removed.
Addressing the members of AMP who had come from different parts of the country, Maulana Mohammad Wali Rahmani said sincere efforts were not made on political empowerment, otherwise situation would have been different. It’s true the number of Muslim MLAs has increased in UP, Bihar and West Bengal, but it will be useless if they do not raise the issue of Muslims. They are first member of SP, Congress or RJD and then member of the community.
Others who spoke included Khaliqur Rahman, member, central wakf committee, Ahmed Izhar, president, Urdu Patrakar Sangh, Aziz Malik, deputy editor, Urdunews.com.
Fareed khan, core committee member of AMP claimed that the group has made 18000 members and presence in 50 cities in just few years.
