Pyongyang : Pyongyang Sunday protested against the ongoing joint US-South Korean military exercise in South Korea.
South Korea and the US launched a two-month joint military exercise, code-named Foal Eagle, last week. Both countries have said it is a routine exercise, Xinhua reported.
Seoul has again “committed the gravest provocation” contrary to the wishes of the Korean people, a spokesman for the North Korean foreign ministry said.
The exercise is held during a period of mourning over the loss of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and it has hurt the sentiments of the people, he said in a statement.
The North Korean Army and the people will “mete out a merciless punishment” to the Lee Myung Bak government in South Korea, the statement said.
