New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which might end up as the second biggest group in Uttar Pradesh, will not support any coalition government, BJP leader Muqtar Abbas Naqvi said Tuesday.
With early trends from vote count showing the BJP leading in some 45 of 403 constituencies, Naqvi told NDTV that his party favoured a clear-cut mandate from the people of Uttar Pradesh.
“But if we don’t win, we will prefer to sit in the opposition,” he said. “However, we won’t back any coalition government.”
Naqvi added that the BJP’s decision to prop up the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) three times in the past was “a huge mistake”.
