Amritsar : A day after creating history in Punjab by winning a second consecutive term in the assembly elections, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his family Wednesday offered prayers at the Harmandar Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple.
The chief minister was accompanied by his son and Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is also the Punjab deputy chief minister, and his daughter-in-law and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Badal.
All three leaders offered prayers, one after another, inside the sanctum sanctorum at the holiest of Sikh shrines.
Amritsar MP and former cricketer Navjot Sidhu accompanied Sukhbir Badal as he offered prayers.
The Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance had Tuesday romped home with 68 seats in the 117-member assembly. It is for the first time in over four decades that an incumbent government will rule the state for a consecutive term.
