Senior officer’s PSO wounded in Srinagar militant attack

Srinagar : Terrorists shot at and wounded the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of a senior state government official in the heart of Srinagar late Friday afternoon.

A senior police officer said militants opened fire from close range at the PSO outside a shrine in Saraibala locality near city centre Lal Chowk.

“The constable Afroze Ahmad Khan was hit in the thigh and was shifted to hospital for treatment,” he said.

Khan was escorting the senior state government officer to a shrine in the Saraibala area to offer Friday prayers.

Senior police and security force officers rushed to the spot. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
