Aliah University will get Rs 100 Cr in Bengal budget-2012: Sultan Ahmed

Kolkata: Minority funds will be increased by Government of West Bengal in the coming state budget for the year 2012-13. More than Rs 100 Cr will be allocated for Aliah University in the budget, said Union Tourism Minister and leader of state ruling party Trinamool Congress, Sultan Ahmed at a program on 9th March here in Kolkata.

Ahmed said West Bengal Government led by Mamata Banerjee will do better for Muslims as the TMC got victory due to huge Muslim support.

He remembered a speech of former parliamentarian Syed Badruddoza when he was young. Ahmed said Badruddoza’s speech in Arabic encouraged him to learn Arabic and also do for uplift of the Muslim society. He said Muslims of Bengal should learn English as well as Arabic, because Arabic is the language which can discover untold history of Islamic World as well as glorious period of Islamic regime throughout the world. He hoped Aliah University will be a remarkable University not only in India, but throughout the World.

The state budget of West Bengal for the financial year 2012-13 will be presented on 15th March, 2012 in the West Bengal Assembly.

President of West Bengal Minority Cell of Trinamool Congress, Advocate Idrish Ali said, Muslims suffered and were deprived for long time in West Bengal, now the situation has changed. Muslim will get justice and present state Government will do needful for Muslims, he hoped.

Imam of Nakhuda Mosque Mufti Shakil, Executive Editor of Urdu Daily Akhbar E Mashrique Nadimul Haque, Urdu Columnist Syed Ali, Professor Dr. Amjad Hossain, Professor Manzoor Ahmed,Maulana Talib Rahmani, The Eastern Post Editor Abdul Basit Ismail and many other Muslim clerics and personalities were present at the program.

Islamic Scholar Maulana Sabah Ismail has been conferred Ph.D.degree by Lucknow University on 2nd March, 2012. He was felicitated at the program jointly organized by Jibreel International School and The eastern Post at Jibreel International School Auditorium. The title of Ismail’s thesis in Arabic language was `The growth of Arabic language and literature in 20th Century Bengal (India) an analytical study’.
