Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal Tuesday rejected the resignation of Health Minister Rajiv Bindal, saying the opposition
allegations of corruption against him were baseless.
“He resigned on moral grounds and I rejected the resignation after consideration. There was no substance in the Congress charges and he was not guilty at all,” Dhumal told reporters here.
Bindal gave his resignation Monday to Dhumal in the assembly amid uproar.
Pandemonium prevailed in the house over the assets allegedly acquired by Bindal and his family since he became minister in January 2008.
The Congress had sought adjournment motion regarding corruption charges levelled against Bindal by the Himachal Lokhit Party, headed by Bharatiya Janata Party rebel and four-time MP Maheshwar Singh. They also demanded his resignation.
