New Delhi : India and the UN’s top global development network Wednesday will sign a framework cooperation pact that is aimed at leveraging New Delhi’s expertise for bolstering South-South cooperation between developing countries.
During her four-day visit, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator and UN Under Secretary General Helen Clark will call on External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur.
The partnership framework agreement will be signed after talks between Clark and Kaur Wednesday.
The agreement, the first ever between Government of India and UNDP, provides a structured framework for collaboration between India and UNDP, with the main focus on enhancing South-South cooperation (SSC) in support of other developing countries, the external affairs ministry said here Tuesday.
The pact seeks to strengthen the cooperation for South-South cooperation (including triangular partnership) by leveraging India’s development experience, technologies, technical expertise and training and UNDP’s global development network and finance the cause of sustainable development in other developing countries
Clark will also participate in the UNDP Regional Cluster Meeting of Resident Coordinators, Resident representatives and Country Directors and deliver the Lakdawala Memorial lecture.
