UP Ministers, MLAs urged to take oath in Urdu

Lucknow: The Islamic Centre of India, Farangi Mahal has urged newly elected MLAs of Uttar Pradesh and those going to be made ministers to take oath in Urdu so that attention could be drawn to the forgotten rights of the language which is second official language of the largest state of the country.

Maulana Nayeemur Rahman Siddiqui, General Secretary, Islamic Centre of India, on Tuesday issued a statement urging the newly elected Muslim MLAs to not forget Urdu while taking oath. He appealed to them to take oath in Urdu so that its missing rights are restored.

Maulana Siddiqui hoped the new government being formed under the leadership of clean and educated Akhilesh Singh Yadav will prove to be a friend of Urdu and Minorities. He also hoped the government which is formed on the huge support of Muslims will solve on priority basis the issues of Urdu teachers and translators.

Maulana Siddiqui is optimistic that Urdu medium schools will soon be opened in Muslim-dominated areas and the Samajwadi Party government will give attention to Urdu poet and literary people.
