“Next year will be the 175th birth anniversary of one of the greatest patriotic sons of India, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. In his memory, I propose to set up a coaching terminal to be named after him at Naihati. And also a museum,” Trivedi said while presenting the railway budget for 2012-13 in the Lok Sabha in New Delhi.

The railways will also run a special train across the country to desseminate Bankim Chandra’s legacy among the young generation.

Chatterjee, born June 27 1838 in the village Knathalpara in the Naihati area of the present North 24 Paraganas district, wrote the famous patriotic novel Anandamath, which inspired freedom fighters during pre-independence era.

Naihati is a part of Trivedi’s Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency.
