Huzaifa Amir was kidnapped from outside his home in North Nazimabad area more than a month ago. He was found strangled to death Saturday, Dawn reported Sunday.

The two suspects told police they had killed the boy a day after kidnapping him.

Police said the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded a ransom of more than five million rupees (around $55,000).

The victim’s parents did not inform the police, negotiated on their own and brought the ransom amount down to 600,000 rupees (around $6,600).

The kidnappers asked the boy’s father put the money on a railway track in Karachi. The father was assured his son would return home in the next few hours, but it never happened, police said.

The boy did not return, and the parents called the police. The kidnappers again contacted the family and demanded more money for their son’s release.

The abductors were tracked down and arrested, and during interrogation, they said they had strangled the boy the very next day of the kidnapping and buried him at a graveyard in Ahsanabad.
