Mumbai : A 39-year-old man travelling on the rooftop of a local train was found hanging on an overhead electric cable – miraculously alive – here Monday.
The victim, Mir Zakir Shavaruhaq, suffered only minor bruises and injuries on his hand.
“We were notified that a man was hanging through the capillary overhead cable near Santacruz in northwest Mumbai,” a Western Railway official told IANS.
“We disconnected power supply for around 20 minutes to rescue him,” he added.
The official said it was a miracle he was not electrocuted.
Shavaruhaq was handed over to the Government Railway Police, which let him off after a warning.
