Shimla : The Congress in Himachal Pradesh Tuesday literally excommunicated Health Minister Rajeev Bindal, who has been facing allegations of corruption, in the assembly.
After demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into allegations of corruption against him for six consecutive days, the Congress participated in the question hour for the first time since the budget session began March 9.
As the house met, opposition leader Vidya Stokes stood up and said: “We have been demanding a CBI inquiry and his removal from the cabinet, but our demands have not been accepted.
“Let the proceedings go on, but we have decided to boycott him socially. We will not ask Bindal any question (in the house),” she said.
The Congress legislators, who wore black badges as a mark of protest, participated in the house proceedings.
Taking their Gandhigiri protest against corruption a step further, the Congress legislators had Monday donned white Gandhi caps, a la Anna Hazare, in the assembly.
The Congress legislators March 15 held a silent protest in the house by gagging themselves with black bands in the house. They uttered not a single word during question hour.
Dhumal has already given a clean chit to Bindal, saying the opposition allegations of corruption against him were baseless.
