Reacting to the byelection result, DMK President M. Karunanidhi said there was nothing new in the ruling party winning the by-polls and cited his party’s turning victorious in 11 by-polls while in power between 2006-2011. He added that there was nothing to worry about the loss.

He said Sankarankoil has been with AIADMK since 1991 and the party retaining the seat was expected.
