Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has ordered the finance ministry to release Rs.6 billion ($66 million) to the water and power ministry for overcoming the crippling electricity crisis in the country, the Geo News reported.
Gilani issued the direction while presiding a high-level meet in Islamabad which also decided to convene a National Energy Conference to discuss ways and means to overcome the country’s deteriorating energy crisis.
The latest steps were taken in the wake of ongoing protests and violence being witnessed in various parts of the Punjab province against the unannounced and prolonged loadshedding of electricity.
