Huang Hong had cleared the China Insurance Regulatory Commission’s test. She passed the national civil servant examination, the professional examination, job interview and physical examination and was ranked at the top for the professional supervision position, the China Daily reported.

Huang said she never expected she would receive a call informing her that she was not qualified for the job because of her “introverted character”.

She asked for a written document citing the reason, but the commission refused.

“We cannot reveal the details of the investigation, and it’s the rule of the State Administration of Civil Service,” an official said.

Huang, who majored in insurance from the Renmin University of China, is now working in a finance firm in Beijing.
