Five killed in Iraq violence

Baghdad : Some five people were killed and four injured in Iraq Saturday in separate bomb and gunfire attacks, police said.

At least three soldiers were killed in Nineveh province after a roadside bomb went off near their patrol, Xinhua quoted a source as saying.

Gunfire was exchanged in Tarmiyan town near Baghdad after some gunmen attacked a leader’s car, said an interior ministry source.

The clash left two of the attackers killed and wounded one of the leader’s bodyguards, the source added.

In Diyala province, an army officer and a soldier were wounded when gunmen attacked them while patrolling, a police source said.

In a separate incident, a young man was injured when a roadside bomb exploded near his house in Jalawlaa town, about 130 km from Baghdad.
