New Delhi : The civil aviation ministry will work out modalities of developing new airports under public private partnership (PPP) in consultation with the Planning Commission.
This was decided at a meeting Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh had with Montek Singh Ahluwalia, deputy chairman of the Commission, and Gajendra Haldea, Commission advisor.
“It was decided to consider the development of new airports, cityside development, and maintenance of Chennai and Kolkata airports, work out various modalities and seek approval by the cabinet committee on infrastructure,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said modalities regarding city side airport development, maintenance and running of Chennai and Kolkata airports under PPP mode was taken up in the meeting.
Other upcoming airport projects like Navi Mumbai, Goa, Itanagar and Kannur under PPP model was also discussed.
