Uddhav said his 86-year-old father continues to be under treatment for various ailments.

“Yesterday, (cousin) Raj visited him and called up this morning while (former Shiv Sena leader) Chhagan Bhujbal also met him last evening. Everybody is concerned, especially me, but he is stable now,” Uddhav told reporters shortly after a meeting of party legislators and senior Sena office-bearers.

He also scotched speculation that the meeting was called to discuss Bal Thackeray’s health.

“In fact, this meeting had been planned around a fortnight ago and it had a specific agenda. There is no connection with my father’s health,” Uddhav asserted.

The agenda, he said, was to discuss issues and strategy for next month’s winter assembly session in Nagpur, the state’s second capital.

In response to a query about his own health, Uddhav, 52, who underwent an angioplasty in July, said: “I am fine and standing before you.”

Bal Thackeray’s health has been a matter of discussion in the past couple of weeks, especially after he skipped the annual Shiv Sena Dassehra Rally at Shivaji Park and chose to address the audience in a pre-recorded speech.

Last week, President Pranab Mukherjee called up the Thackeray residence to enquire about the ailing leader’s health.
