Rio De Janeiro: Uruguay’s 2010 World Cup Golden Ball winner Diego Forlan has been left out of his country’s international football friendly against Poland in Gdansk next week.
Veteran striker Sebastian Abreu was also missing from Oscar Tabarez’s 19-man squad for the Nov 14 clash at the PGE Arena on Poland’s Baltic coast, reports Xinhua.
Both players were expected to be named after being included in an original 30-man short-list announced by Tabarez last month.
Forlan, who was voted the best player at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, has scored just five goals for Brazil’s Internacional since his July move from Inter Milan.
Abreu, capped 70 times for Uruguay in a 16-year international career, has been reduced to five appearances for Brazilian top flight club Figueirense this season due to injuries.
