Lucknow : Over 50 people, including women and children, were injured in Charkhari in Mahoba, 230 km from here, when the roof and wall of a house collapsed Wednesday, police said.
The injured were standing on a roof of a house watching Diwari Nritya, the post-Diwali festival, when the roof and a wall collapsed under the weight of the onlookers.
Police teams rescued 50 people from the rubble. Seven people are in critical condition and have been admitted to a medical facility in Jhansi.
Mahoba’s Superintendent of Police M.D. Karndhar told IANS that the railing of the house belonging to shopkeeper Pradeep Shukla caved in at around 1 p.m.
