Muslim politicians meet Hyd Police against arbitrary detention of youth

Hyderabad: Muslim politicians cutting across party lines have met Andhra Pradesh police higher authorities to register their protest against what they term arbitrary arrest of Muslim youths after Friday prayer violence at Charminar.

Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen delegation registered their protest with Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy and charged the police with creating tension by not allowing Muslims to offer ‘Salam’ at religious flag in Charminar.

The delegation of five MLAs and One MLC has urge DGP to stop indiscriminate arrests of Muslim youths in the name of controlling law and order in old Hyderabad.

Later in the day MIM legislative Assembly floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi met DCP P.J Victor at crime branch headquarters to inquire about the arrests of Muslim youths. He also met six minors who were arrested while pelting stones on the police.

Five minors were released by the police after counseling with the parents one minor was sent to the juvenile court.

Telangaan Rashtria Samithi minority cell leaders also met DGP and raise their concern over the events unfolding in old city especially the arrest of Muslim youths. TRS reportedly has complaint to the DGP against MIM for creating disturbance in old city.

Congress minority department delegation under the leadership of its president Mohammed Sirajuddin met Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anurag Sharma and complained against the high handiness of police officials deployed in old city for controlling law and order. They alleged fascist mindset police officers in old city is creating disturbance to defame secular congress Govt.

Congress minority leaders urged commissioner of police that innocents Muslims should not be arrested and targeted for maintaining peace in the city.

Yesterday police has released 16 Muslim youths other than 5 minors who were arrested on the basis of suspicion. Meanwhile police has registered 16 cases of arson and violence. Till now 21 Muslim youngsters are booked for their alleged involvement in the violence.
