New Delhi : Bharti Airtel Monday said it is seeking a legal remedy to the show cause notice sent by the Department of Telecom on 3G roaming.
“Bharti Airtel is in receipt of show cause notice received from DoT on 3G intra-circle roaming and is seeking appropriate legal remedy against the same,” the company said in a statement.
“Airtel confirms that 3G ICR arrangements are in compliance with the clarifications of the DoT at the time of the auction of the 3G spectrum, all applicable laws and licensing conditions and are hugely beneficial to customers and grave inconvenience will be caused to customers if it is disallowed,” it added.
The DoT has issued notice to telecom firms asking them to stop 3G roaming services outside their licensed area within three days Friday.
The notice sent to Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone asks them to explain why penal action should not be taken against them.
The operators had entered into roaming agreements to offer 3G services such as video calling, mobile TV and multi-media gaming in areas where they did not have 3G spectrum.
