“In today’s world, the focus is on Asia. Here India stands out, also globally, with its high degree of political stability, its democratic and judicial checks and balances, free media and an active civil society,” said Norwegian Ambassador to India, Eivind S. Homme on Friday announcing the launch of the association in Mumbai

“Together with the country’s huge human and natural resources and in line with the Indian government’s strong ambitions for high and inclusive economic growth, this is a place where we hope to see much more Norwegian investments and trade,” he added.

Homme, who will be an honorary member of the board of the association, added that “India will certainly be one of the few markets with potentials for high growth during the years to come. It is a market where you want to be now.”

He encouraged companies present at the launch to benefit from the Indian market, and to continue to make contributions to India’s impressive growth story.

The Mumbai pre-launch saw 48 major Norwegian company representatives present and it is expected that many more would be interested in obtaining membership in the association during the coming months.

Homme said that he envisioned the association to become an arena where experiences, information, contacts and networks could be shared in a productive manner.

The association will have its registered office at the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi.

It is currently under registration and the documents are with the Registrar of Societies, New Delhi, whose approval is expected by October-end.
