New Delhi : Speakers from six African nations are among 12 women presiding officers in the capital to attend a meet on gender-sensitive parliament.
The Seventh Meeting of Women Speakers of Parliament on gender-sensitive parliaments was inaugurated in the capital by President Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday.
The two-day event is attended by women speakers from 12 countries.
Of these, six are from African nations — Margaret Nnananyana Nasha, speaker of the national assembly, parliament of Botswana; Rose Francine Rogombe, president of the senate, parliament of Gabon; Gelane T. Zwane, president of the senate, parliament of swaziland; Anne Makinda, speaker of the national assembly, parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania; Rebecca Kadaga, speaker of the parliament of Uganda; and Edna Madzongwe, president of the senate, parliament of Zimbabwe.
