Aligarh: The Aligarh Movement, a bilingual monthly magazine, held an on the spot Sir Syed essay writing competition-2012 in the Aligarh Public School, as part of the Sir Syed Birth Anniversary celebrations. Nearly 600 students participated in the event.
Prof. Zakia Ather Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Muslim Women Education Surveillance Committee, MHRD, pointed out that Sir Syed was a school of thought in himself and we should incorporate his teachings among our children.
She added that such an essay writing competition is a true tribute to the great man.
Chief Editor of the magazine, Jasim Mohammad emphasised translating the teachings of Sir Syed into our practical life.
Chief Guest of the programme, eminent scientist and member of AMU Court, Prof. Humayun Murad appreciated the efforts of the students and said that the event has provided an opportunity to students to know deeply Sir Syed.
Result of the essay writing competition shall be declared on October 9, and on October 11, 2012 winners will be facilitated.
