New Delhi : The CBI Wednesday opposed in a Delhi court the plea of Vectra company chief Ravinder Rishi to go to Britain for medical and business purposes. Rishi is an accused in a defence-related corruption case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed Rishi’s plea before Special Judge Talwant Singh, saying that he might destroy evidence and not return to India.
“Grant permission to the applicant (Rishi) to travel to the United Kingdom for a period of 30 days and accordingly direct the CBI to inform the concerned authorities and the lookout circular dated March 31 may be suspended for the period of travel,” he said.
The court fixed Oct 16 next hearing of the matter.
The CBI registered a case naming Rishi and unnamed officials of the defence ministry, the army and company BEML March 30 for alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating and offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Rishi is facing a CBI probe in connection with the alleged irregularities in supply of Tatra all-terrain trucks to public sector BEML, formerly known as Bharat Earth Movers Limited.
