“Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has given his consent to buy a new helicopter through global tender. Munda has also constituted a committee headed by the state’s development commissioner to finalise the purchase of the chopper,” an official told IANS.

Since the creation of the state in 2000, Jharkhand has been hiring helicopters for the movement of VIPs and chief ministers.

The Aryanan Aviation chopper Augusta 109 which was hired by the state government, met with an accident in May this year. Munda, his wife Meera and four other people were seriously injured when the chopper crash-landed. Munda remained bed-ridden for three months following the accident.
