Two foreigners go missing in Afghanistan

Kabul : A search operation has been launched after two foreigners – an American and a Canadian – went missing in Afghanistan, police said Sunday.

The two foreigners went missing in Wardak province, 35 km west of Kabul, a couple of days ago, Xinhua reported citing provincial police spokesman Abdul Wali.

The two were on a journey along the Ghazni-Kabul highway.

Mohammad Ali Ahmad, deputy governor of the neighbouring Ghazni province, told Xinhua that both foreigners and their Afghan driver went missing in Shashgao village of Sayed Abad district in Wardak Tuesday while on their way to Kabul.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a purported spokesman for the Taliban, expressed ignorance over the missing men during talks with the media via telephone from an unidentified location.
