New Delhi : Pharma company Lupin Thursday said it has received the US health regulator’s approval to market its generic oral contraceptive “Kurvelo” tablets.
The Mumbai-based company in a statement said its subsidiary, Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc., has received the final approval from the US Food and Drugs Administration (USFDA) for the contraceptive.
Lupin’s Kurvelo tablets are the generic equivalent of Teva’s Nordette tablets and are indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women, it added.
Nordette tablets had annual sales of around 59 million in the US, where the oral contraceptive market in is valued at over $5 billion and said to be growing at around 8 percent annually.
