New Delhi : Delhi Police have arrested four persons in connection with a daylight robbery-cum-murder in the capital ten days ago, police said Friday.
Shamim Akhtar, 23, Sadiq, 21, Mohammed Uvesh, 24, and Mohammed Salim, 25, were arrested Thursday from near the Ranjit Singh flyover for their role in the robbery-cum-murder that took place Oct 8 in central Delhi’s Kamala market area.
“Their arrest led police to solve five cases of robbery and attempt to murder which occurred in Bihar,” said a police officer.
The accused had killed one Sultan Ahmed and injured Nawab Ali during their robbery attempt at a handicraft unit run by Mohammed Shaqeel at Shakoor Ki Dandi, near Zakir Hussain College in the Kamala market area. The accused also looted some mobiles and cash worth Rs.8,000 from the workers working in the factory at gun point.
“During the course of interrogation, Salim disclosed that he, along with his associates, had approached the handicraft unit on the information of one his associates that more than Rs.1 lakh could be recovered from the unit,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Additional Commissioner of Police.
“Akhtar, Sadiq and Salim belong to Bihar while Uvesh hails from Uttar Pradesh. They have been residing in the capital for some time and work as labourers and tailors,” said Srivastava.
