Shimla : CPI-M leader and former MP Subhashini Ali Friday said that Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari, who faces serious charges of corruption, should resign on moral grounds.
Responding to a query, Ali said the party would not demand resignation of Gadkari.
“It is a matter of investigation and the party would not jump into any conclusion that he is corrupt, but it wants that the BJP leader listen to his inner voice and act accordingly,” said Ali, who was here to campaign for the party candidates.
She accused the BJP-led government in Himachal Pradesh of allowing private universities to open in the state but denying expansion of the state’s own Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla.
“Former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, who is behind bars, was allowed to invest in a private university (in the hill state),” she alleged.
The hill state will go to the polls Nov 4 and the counting of the votes will be held Dec 20.
