Kolkata: Eminent Bengali writer and Sahitya Akademi award winner Syed Mustafa Siraj died at a city hospital Tuesday after a brief illness, family sources said.
Siraj, 82, was admitted to a hospital a few days ago with intestine infection.
He is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters.
The renowned litterateur won the Sahitya Akademi award in 1994 for his novel “Aleek Manush”. He also got “Bankim Puraskar”.
He wrote short stories, novels and children’s literature over 40 years.
