Kolkata : Continuing her tirade against the media on its coverage of the West Bengal dengue outbreak, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday claimed that it was now cooking up cases of shortage of beds in hospitals.
“I have received complaints from two hospitals in the Salt Lake area that some people stood outside their premises with computer typed papers crying ‘no beds’. We shouldn’t do such things. This is not right.”
Banerjee had Wednesday attacked the media for allegedly distorting her comments that diet control might lead to diseases like dengue.
“I said it very informally. I only said if people go on diet then their immunity level may go down.”
“I think the media needs counseling, the way they resort to distorting comments,” she said.
A few days back Banerjee had accused the media of carrying out a “false propaganda” on the issue.
However, she patted the Bengal media for giving a good play to her lengthy media meet on dengue Tuesday when she had underlined the do’s and don’ts of combating the disease.
A section of doctors had faced her wrath Tuesday when she charged them with mentioning dengue in death certificates even in cases where heart attacks or strokes resulted in the patient’s death.
