“We had 90,367 tourists from India to South Africa in 2011. In 2012, we expect this number to be 1.05 lakh,” Slabber told media persons here.

During the first five months of the current year, the number of Indian tourists to the African country rose to 43,285, a 25 percent jump compared to the same period last year.

The tourism office of the country in India conducted two road shows for business to business (B2B) meets in order to promote destinations, instead of the tradition of once a year.

Some hotels in South Africa were also gearing up to renovate according to taste and preferences of Indian travellers to attract more tourists, Slabber added.
