Six books shortlisted for Book Prize 2012

New Delhi : Six books have been shortlisted for ‘Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2012’ of the Shakti Bhatt Foundation. There were 96 entries.

The shortlisted books will be sent to the 2012 panel of judges, which consists of literary agent David Godwin, poet and novelist Tishani Doshi, and author Basharat Peer, said a foundation statement Thursday.

The winner will be announced in the second half of November and the prize will be presented in December.

In 2011, the winner was “The Wandering Falcon” authored by Jamil Ahmad.

The Shakti Bhatt Foundation is a non-profit trust.

The six shortlisted books are: “Tamasha in Bandargaon” by Navneet Jagannathan, “The Purple Line” by Priyamvada Purushottam, “The King in Exile” by Sudha Shah, “The Inexplicable Unhappiness of Ramu Hajjam” by Taj Hassan, “Taj Mahal Foxtrot” by Naresh Fernandes and “Calcutta Exile” by Bunny Suraiya.
